LCAS’ fully certified (Supplemental Type Certificate) wing-mounted composite interface and boom assemblies carry the magnetometer sensor and requisite electronics. The forward part of the boom assembly contains the provisions for the magnetometer sensor and the interface assembly houses the amplifier.  The orientation of the sensor is adjustable, to provide optimum coupling with the earth’s magnetic field. This innovation eliminates the traditional towed bird system and offers significant advantages in data quality, pilot work load reductions, survey flight efficiencies, and safety in all types of terrain. The modification involves installing wingtip pods on the underside of both the L/H and R/H wing securing to existing hard points. When the boom assembly is removed a close out cap is provided for repositioning flights with booms removed and boom interface mounts installed.

The mod kit includes all the necessary doublers, support assemblies and attaching hardware.
